We stayed at the Rose "hotel" in Hai phong there was a price list for taking the rooms by the hour next to the bed as the hotel is used for prostitutes and there clients we booked trough bookings. I went down stairs after I recovered from the shock of the room and requested our passports back so we could leave but he was adamant he had a nicer room if I would just look at it, I followed him to another room which at first glance looked ok but in reality it was just a little cleaner.
After piecing everything together we realised we were in some kind of red light area that this hotel was very much part of. We slept on the our towels and bags as it was to dangerous to leave via the dark ally way entrance full of "massage parlours".
